While not leaning particularly hard into esoteric or avant-garde corners of imposing black metal writing, this record still holds up as a solid passion project for the lovecraft mythos. I feel too many elitists take one look at this band and disregard them simply for being a little progressive, but that’s part of what makes TGOO as identifiable as they are, and it works in their favor with cosmicism. A very appreciable record with enough to offer to keep the usual BM listener invested.
Favorite track: Dreams of the Nuclear Chaos.

Fantastic album from a band that has flourished with their own brand of complex subterranean Cthulhu inspired black/extreme metal.

Cosmicism sounds dense and oppressive as the smog/smoke/space dust on the cover suggests, with flicks of light scattered throughout.
The songwriting is improved, which makes for an overall better album than EOD, and a welcome step forward on Lovecraft's path of horror. Favorite track: The Omniscient.

The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel.

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once.....
